cloning the extinct: can we do this?

There's still hope for extinct species. But there's more to that than watching Jurrasic park, and I'd say, to clone, or not to clone, that is the question. Now I want to do that as a science project. But I can't. Only if a group of cloners that have the same goal as mine hear my plea, I'd take the job!
